Local 6, is presented ABATE's prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award. The
award was announced at the last Board of Directors meeting. We'll take some
pictures, and a write-up will appear in an upcoming ABATE Bailing Wire.
Come help us honor Jim!
DISCUSS THE LATEST ON LANE SPLITTING LEGISLATION! AB 51, which recently
passed the Senate Transportation Committee 11-0, has passed the full Senate,
38 to 0. The full vote happened yesterday, August 1st, 2016. Bill now goes
back to the California State Assembly where it originated, for
concurrence-meaning that the house of origin must approve changes made to a
bill while it was in the second House.

plitting-bill-to-be-updated> AB 51 has been amended since it was introduced
last year, but heavy involvement from all involved parties along the way
makes it likely that the bill will be approved. If not, it's eligible for a
two-house conference committee composed of six legislators, three from each
house. If required, the committee meets (in public session) to reconcile
differences between the Assembly and Senate versions of the bill. NOTE:
The bill is not without controversy in the motorcycle community mostly to do
with how it might be administered.
RUNS AND EVENTS. Be sure to check the Bailing Wire for ABATE events.
Here's a few to put on your calendar:
* ABATE Local 11 Meeting - August 14 - Escondido Moose Lodge, 25721
Jesmond Dene Road, Escondido - 11 a.m. They have seats and you can come
early and have breakfast, too.
* ABATE GOLDEN RENDEZVOUS (ABATE STATE RUN). Official event on
September 9-11 has been cancelled for this year. Due to the cost of putting
on the event, there will be an old fashioned "camp-out" on the same date at
Frandy Campground in Kernville. Should still be a lot of fun.
Least you forget, the Final Option has a breakfast at Sweetwater Harley just
before our meeting this month. Howie invites everyone down to have
breakfast first and then ride up to Kate Sessions for our meeting.
As always, if you have any subjects or topics you'd like discussed, please
email me at <mailto:nemecek at san.rr.com> nemecek at san.rr.com and let me know
what you'd like covered. We'll do our best.
Another important reminder.please remember to let us know if you change
membership information . address, telephone, email, etc. Send the updates
also to <mailto:nemecek at san.rr.com> nemecek at san.rr.com.
